Re-imagined Recycling

ECOCAN D.R.S is the first fully digital DRS worldwide, which supports incentivised collection & closed-loop recycling of genuine eligible empties. And ensures participants directly benefit for taking part.

This is achieved by creating a marketplace for used empties, conveniently connecting ECO-Producers and ECO-Recyclers seeking to buy back post-consumer empties for reuse or recycling, with ECOnsumers who are in possession of the empties, but lack access to the market

Recycling is cooperation

We all have a role to play in the ECO-system:

System Administration

System Administration

ECOCAN sets up the D.R.S and provides needed technology to administer the entire ECO-system. This green-tech platform brings together all actors across the packaging value chain, fostering ECO-friendly production, sustainable commerce, and responsible consumption

Product Eligibility

Product Eligibility

ECO-Producers apply worthwhile deposit incentives, that attach extrinsic financial value onto empties that would otherwise be considered waste. This motivates ECOnsumers to return them to ECO-Stations after product consumption. Producers also print ECOCAN Security codes onto product packaging to safeguard their integrity

Marketplace Activity

Marketplace Activity

ECOnsumers authenticate eligible products before purchase, thus starve counterfeit criminals of cashflow. And return eligible empties to ECO-Stations for recycling; to reclaim deposit money, preserve the environment, and deprive counterfeiters access to genuine empties. ECOnsumers also prioritise purchase of ECO-products to support sustainable commerce

Empties Recycling

Empties Recycling

ECO-Stations accept returned eligible empties, and digitally refund applicable deposit incentives. Subsequently, ECOuriers on E-mobility efficiently handle pick-ups, while ECO-Recyclers process empties into new bottles, completing the closed-loop cycle

Recycling process

Returned re-usable glass bottles are meticulously processed by ECOCAN in a closed-loop, using state of the art fully-automatic . And undergo rigorous quality inspection with top-of-the-line empty bottle inspectors (I.B.I). To ensure ECO-products are safely refilled in the most hygienic, and highest quality, 100% re-used glass bottles.

Why Closed-Loop Recycling
Closed-loop recycling refers to a sustainable process whereby used bottles are recycled into new bottles of the same material value i.e. PET empties are recycled to manufacture new PET bottles. And not otherwise downcycled into lesser quality products like plastic basins, building blocks or cabro bricks. Which cause more environmental harm like contributing to micro-plastic leakage. Closed-loop recycling is the true circular economy with many benefits including;
three empty glass bottles

Environmental Impact

Reduces waste sent to landfills, decreases litter, as well as GHGs emission from raw material extraction

icon

Energy Efficiency

Requires less energy compared to producing products from virgin raw materials i.e., recycling aluminium cans requires only 5% of energy needed to make new cans

icon

Sustainability

Promotes resource conservation by continuously reusing materials. For example, recycling PET bottles reduces need to drill crude oil to make new plastic bottles

icon

Economic Advantage

Reduces manufacturing costs i.e beverage producers can save upto 40% of packaging costs, thus sell their products more affordably

So next time you recycle, ensure it is closed loop recycling, that you don't end up doing more harm, when your intentions are noble

Fun Facts!

Did You Know?

That used aluminium cans are some of the most valuable scrap materials in the whole world? And that they can be recycled indefinitely without losing material value—yes, recycled forever!

Energy Saver

And recycling just one aluminium can saves up to 95% of the energy needed to make a new can. In fact, the energy saved can power your TV for three (3) whole hours!

Zero Waste, Full Impact

100% of used aluminium cans can be recycled to make new ones, with zero waste! Incredible, right? So, return your used cans to the nearest ECO-Station for recycling!

The Recycling Journey

ECOuriers pick up your cans and deliver them to ECO-Recyclers, who smelt them into ingots. These ingots are then pressed into thin sheets that are moulded into new cans, ensuring your next drink arrives in a fully recycled, ECO-friendly can, facilitated by ECOCAN.
